Hi, I'm Zeneil
I'm a software engineering leader with experience spanning from startups to Amazon. With expertise in Android, iOS and IoT systems, developing innovative platforms on AWS, and exploring AI applications, I bring both technical depth and strategic vision to my work. I'm passionate about solving complex problems and evaluating cutting-edge technologies.
my journey
From Startups to Big Tech
My career path has taken me from developing event management platforms at SlycedIn, engineering sensor optimization and footfall analytics solutions at Focus Analytics, creating IoT ecosystems at Grow Labs, and leading system transformations at Amazon Audible. This diverse trajectory has given me unique insights into technology development across different scales, industries, and technical challenges.
my technical range
Cross-Platform Experience
I've worked across the full technology stack: from Android and iOS native development to React Native; from NodeJS microservices to Java Spring; from IoT device communication to cloud infrastructure with AWS; from MongoDB to data analysis with Pandas. I've engineered BLE protocols, encryption systems, modularized architectures, and AI implementations using PyTorch and LangChain.
My Impact
Technical Leadership
I've led transformative projects that halved application size, reduced development cycles from days to minutes, and increased feature velocity by 3x. I've managed critical incidents affecting multiple marketplaces, implemented tracing systems that revolutionized troubleshooting workflows, and created frameworks that enabled teams of over 40 engineers to work more efficiently.
My publications
Technical Writing & Research
I regularly share insights and research on Medium across a diverse range of technical disciplines. My articles explore cutting-edge topics including transformer architectures in AI, computational approaches to biological systems, as well as literature and mathematics.

Early Career Innovations
My career began with entrepreneurial success - winning a Google Developer Group hackathon and securing a deal with Zone Startups India in the Bombay Stock Exchange. At SlycedIn, I mastered rapid prototyping with MeteorJS and production deployment with NodeJS on AWS. When my startup journey concluded, I joined Focus Analytics, a fellow accelerator company specializing in footfall analytics. There, I developed sophisticated SDKs that could provide location analytics and push notifications even in offline environments. I mastered Android and iOS internals to create cross-app data sharing systems with robust anonymization - work that sparked my interest in the advanced algorithms behind these technologies.
Washington University in St Louis
Academic Foundations
Inspired by the Kalman filtering techniques I encountered at Focus Analytics and the brilliant scientists from the Indian Institute of Technology there, I pursued a Master's in Computer Science at Washington University in St. Louis, specifically chosen for its exceptional algorithms department. This formal education provided advanced training in computational geometry, non-linear optimization, high-performance computing, and randomized algorithms - creating a theoretical foundation that has enhanced every aspect of my technical work since.

Algorithm Applications
Applying my knowledge of Kalman filtering and non-linear optimization, I developed systems for forex and commodity portfolio optimization using Bitcoin as a hedge. I implemented the SLSQP (Sequential Least Squares Quadratic Programming) optimizer to solve the Lagrangian non-linear optimization problem. This work was conducted at Washington University in St. Louis in 2016, where I demonstrated that Bitcoin volatility could serve as a moderately effective hedge against traditional currency and commodity market fluctuations. This period also included early work with AI algorithms, including online learning and perceptron models.
Grow Labs Inc
IoT Innovation
As one of the two software engineers at Grow Labs, I built an end-to-end IoT planter system that allowed consumers to automatically grow food at home with a plant and forget experience. This involved manufacturing chips, designing BLE protocols, and creating the entire data pipeline from soil sensors to AWS analysis. I implemented systems in React Native with lower-level BLE implementations in Objective-C and Java (using Rx pattern); and designed crisis prevention systems to protect lab environments.
Audible, Amazon
Enterprise Impact
At Audible, I scaled my technical knowledge to enterprise level, working on feature release control, customer segmentation, app versioning, server driven UI management, experimentation metrics, and stakeholder alignment through tennet-setting. I led transformative projects that federated a platform, giving feature teams capabilities like development, deployment, monitoring and alerting with a one-click CI/CD experience. I also reduced development cycles, and managed critical incidents affecting multiple global marketplaces - ensuring that service was restored to customers fast, and putting further guardrails to ensure they never happen again.
AI & Computational Advances
Ongoing Research
My current technical explorations revisit my foundational interests through the lens of emerging technologies - studying transformer architectures, various attention mechanisms, and agentic AI systems by applying them on problems of computational biology and geometry, high-performance computing, randomized algorithms and non-linear games. This work combines my theoretical background with practical implementation experience.
